In the 18th century, the item called a housewife (“hussif”) is one that had multiple uses. It could be a container for small personal items, a wallet, a sewing kit, or a combination of these. This housewife kit is a simple design based on period examples.

Harlequin:
This is one of four special edition kits made in collaboration with Abby Cox using various remnants from her costumes and handmade clothing. Harlequin’s bright, jewel tone silks make for a super cheerful piece. Rainbow plaid taffeta from Abby's famous 1830s dress is accented with blue satin, green & purple taffetas, and the gold glazed cotton she uses in most of her linings. This set features pockets individually lined in cotton and bound in petersham, a green wool needle book, and white silk ribbon.
Autumn Court:
Inspired by spicy autumnal flavors, this hussif comes with embroidered and striped silks in red, gold, and russet. The exterior is either a floral embroidered silk, with the whole piece bound in champagne petersham ribbon.
Leota:
The Leota hussif features spooky cotton prints and silk taffetas in black, green, and purple. Each pocket is individually bound in black petersham, and the whole piece is finished with a black silk ribbon.
Youngling (Prototype Version):
Youngling features sage and sandy linens, wools, and silks. Everything is bound with a white petersham ribbon and tied with silk ribbon.
Pride:
This hussif contains taffeta and satin fabrics in red, yellow, copper, green, blue, and purple. The pockets are individually bound with white petersham and the whole piece is finished with a pink silk ribbon.

Your favorite witchy sisters are all represented in this collection of jewel tones. Deep red Manchester velvet, pink & gold shot silk taffeta, chartreuse silk satin, green & black shot taffeta, and a magical purple & green silk blend are wrapped in dark forest green and bound with jet black petersham ribbon.
