In the 18th century, feminine pockets were pouches worn around the waist, separate from gowns and petticoats. They could be on their own or in pairs, utilitarian or highly decorated. This kit will enable you to make a popular style: the pieced pocket.
Styles:
Rainbow - Although pieced pockets could be made from any random scraps, this one is an elaborate combination of fabrics, including silk, wool, linen, and cotton. It is bound with petersham ribbon and ties around the waist with a cotton tape.
Surprise - This pocket will contain many of the same pieces as the rainbow version, but perhaps not quite so many. It may also include a combination of triangle and square pieces which you can use to create your own pattern.
* Due to the nature of upcycled kits, your fabrics may not be exactly what is shown.
