A shift is one thing a person cannot be without when portraying an 18th century lady. They were worn as the layer of clothing closest to the skin, there to protect outer garments from the body.
These shifts feature a wide neckline and short sleeves that finish in a tidy hem.
"Hand sewn" indicates an item that is made with the most historically accurate methods possible. "Hand finished" looks entirely correct on the outside, but contains modern interior seam finishes. "Machine Stitched" is done with modern methods but period correct shapes.
