In the 18th century, the item called a housewife (“hussif”) is one that had multiple uses. It could be a container for small personal items, a wallet, a sewing kit, or a combination of these. This housewife, a simple design based off period examples, has been carefully stitched by hand.
Celebrate the Winter Solstice with this festive sewing kit in tones of red & green. Reproduction prints*, silk satin, and cotton velvet are bundled in a green striped ticking and finished with a red petersham ribbon.
The finished sewing roll comes with a full spool of thread, a star wax piece, and a hand made cherry wood thread winder.
Note: This is a finished product. If you are looking for a housewife kit, please check out the supply kit section of the website.
